Murrah’s Hoofbeat Newspaper was first started in 1962. For decades, the Murrah High School Newspaper has managed ads, printed photography, and won awards for capturing the school’s vibrant extracurricular life. The newspaper even earned public recognition when it was awarded the National Pacemaker Award for the top five high school papers in America back in 1965. That same year, the Hoofbeat achieved first place in a contest against 946 schools. The newspaper continued to win numerous awards for years before the newspaper was unfortunately retired in 2021. Now, the Murrah Hoofbeat is back and better than ever.

In addition to the various awards won by Hoofbeat members, one member in particular stands out, and that is Ms. Kaitlyn Fowler. Ms. Fowler was an active member in the Newspaper from 2016-2019. Ms. Fowler has also won countless awards like; Newspaper Editor of the Year, Staff Editorial, News Photos, and various others. She is now the current newspaper sponsor and managing director of the Murrah Hoofbeat. Presently, the members of the Hoofbeat consist of , Kaylin Harris(12th), Kendle King(11th), Skylar Steele(11th), Kaizyah Ames(10th), Samantha Anderson(10th), Courtney Brown(10th), Janesia Donahue(10th), Elijah McLaughlin(10th), Mark Tuttle(10th), Kristina Williams (10th)
